Overture is a bullet hell roguelike RPG, The gameplay reminds impressively the greatest hit "Realm of the Mad God".
You have to explore randomly generated dungeon, filled with hundreds of monster and miniboss, and reach the stairs that will bring you to the zone boss that you have to beat to continue to the next floor.
The game has 24 classes, they all play differently (except for 1 or 2 classes), anyone have his personal skill, like summon minions, damaging aura, or multiple arrow shots, and his initial stats.
The combat is quick and difficult since from the firsts minutes of gameplay, this can be a deterrent for the casual gamer but a really good trial for those who want to test themselves, is quick and fast-paced but, differently from many bullet hell "shoot here shoot them" with no tactic, it was introduced a running mechanism that forces you to stop shooting, face the right way and run as fast as you can for save your buttocks, I really like it.
The death in this game is really punishing it force you to restart the game from the beginning losing equip and level, on the other hand, it can be useful because, during the rounds, you obtain money which serve to increase the stat of your character in the class selection menĂ¹.
With this money you can unlock all the class of the game for a very cheap price, just one round in the first floor is enough to unlock one class of choice, this is something that I don't like, I would have preferred win the class for doing something, like reach a certain level/floor with a class or kill a specific boss.
other thing that I dislike a bit is the random generation of level, normally can be cool to have a new whole game everytime you get into, but in this case the "random" thing concern only the texture and a few other things having a little impact on the gameplay.
The soundtrack is just fine, reflects perfectly the 16-bit graphics (thanks oryx to make all the games look like the same...xD) it's just catchy :p
